Rosa M. Lazaro serves as a Professor of Theatre at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. She recently finished her 26th season with the Tony Award Winning Utah Shakespeare Festival this past summer, where she received the esteemed Gene Chesley Memorial Design Award. Prior to returning to educational theatre, Rosa received her Masters of Fine Arts from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and served as Assistant Shop Manager at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. During her time at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival Rosa also designed costumes for several productions including the World Premier of the awarding winning Gee's Bend, by Elyzabeth Gregory Wilder. In 2008 the American College Theatre Association recognized her costume design for Big Love.  Along with teaching at TAMUCC, Rosa enjoys traveling the country as a guest lecturer / workshop leader at universities and conferences, including Western Michigan University, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, University of Virginia Arlington, Southern Utah University and others. Her other artistic passions include photography and writing. She loves the art of story telling whether it be collaboratively in theatrical design, privately in her writing, or in her passion for photography. She believes everyone should tell their story and most of all, “Speak Your Truth”.
